The Characteristics of missio-naries in Africa, dispatched by Yonsei Central Church
① Senior civil servants
② Introduced pastors’ seminar at Hindolsan Retreat Center to the pastors in their countries
③ Planning and serving the conference that pastor Yoon preaches
④ Having a vision for building churches to win souls

Yonsei Central Church dis-patched four African missionaries in the evening service on the 20th Aug. The missionaries sent were Alain Bertrand Zinga from Cameroon, Makosso Lounangou Michel from Gabon, Kouadio Koffi Alfred and Ouangui Jean Xavier from Republic of Cote d’Ivoire.

All of them are senior civil servants of their countries awarded of a full scholarship by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) and studied in Korea for one year from Aug 2016.

They joined in Yonsei Central Church from the beginning of their study and attended the English service by Foreign Mission Team. After this, they listened to the Word of God preached by Holy Spirit through Pastor Yoon attending young adults’ services and experienced the Holy Spirit.

They were supposed to return to their countries immediately after graduation on the 10th Aug, but they sincerely requested to Pastor Yoon to send them as missionaries, as they are willing to win souls as learnt at Yonsei Central Church.

They confessed their vision to build churches and Christian schools to win dying souls doomed to go to hell for not knowing Jesus. Yonsei Central Church decided to dispatch them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Yonsei Central Church has dispatched a few African native missionaries since 2014. In 2014, it sent three missionaries; Lare Batedine Kantani(Togo), Dao Alaza Wiyao(Togo), Ibikounle Adedodja Eustache(Benin). In 2015, Douti Kamba(Togo) was dispatched. In 2016, Felicite Yawa Debataba(Togo), Gilbert Quattara(Cort d’Ivoire) were sent.

Among them, Dao, Lare, Douti and Feli, Togolese missionaries, supported the preparation of both conference and crusade of Pastor Yoon in collaboration with the Togolese church committee in 2016. Missionary Gilbert Ouattara from Cort d’Ivoire led a group of pastors to Togo so that they could be blessed by pastor Yoon’s preaching.

Obvious differences in their mission
There are four things in common among native missionaries sent by Yonsei Central Church in past few years.

First, all of them are senior civil servants in their countries. They are talented people who can develop their countries after learning from Korea and successfully completed a master’s degree in international development from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies with a full scholarship awarded by KOICA. After return to their countries, they would take responsibility for national projects and significantly contribute to winning souls with their influence.

Second, they encourage their pastors to attend the pastors’ seminar in Hindolsan Retreat Center. In particular, pastor Flinja (Dean, West Africa Advanced School of Theology in Togo) and pastor Mitre Djakouti (President, The Christian Council of Togo) who are influential in Christian community, have attended pastors’ seminar a few times and received the grace of God through the preaching. They are equipped with passion for winning souls and have ministered successfully by prayer.

Third, they cooperate with preparation of both conference and crusade by Pastor Yoon in their countries. They are proactively involved in mobilization and promotion of the conference from the beginning. For example, Togolese missionaries were supportive for preparation of the conference and crusade in 2016, and they turned out to be successful.

Fourth, they have a great vision for building churches. Africa has a variety and the mixture of religions like Muslim, Christianity and folk beliefs. They plan to build many churches so that people can listen to the gospel of the Blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross and believe in Jesus rightly. Moreover, they would like to build a Christian Center which can train pastors and church leaders and build schools and hospitals to reach many people with the gospel.

Yonsei Central Church evangelizes foreigners who reside in Korea for study or work and serves them so that they could experience the Holy Spirit. Yonsei Central Church appoints those who are willing and qualified as missionaries upon their return, so that they could preach the gospel. Yonsei Central Church takes the initiative in preaching the gospel all around the world in this way.

As they are native missionaries, they take a critical role to preach the gospel, invite pastor Yoon for conference and crusade and build churches. We expect remarkable activities of four new missionaries sent this time. We give glory, thanksgiving and honor to the Lord who has done everything.
